PEI Taxation & Property Mapping - Migration to Esri

The Province of Prince Edward Island partnered with our experienced GIS technicians and consultants to determine the most effective and cost-efficient GIS solution that aligned with the Province’s goals. GeoNet conducted a study to determine where the Province should invest in order to address required GIS upgrades.

The study incorporated discussions with representatives and staff from the Department of Finance and Municipal Affairs. GeoNet also consulted with New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to determine what software their provincial departments used for similar functions and the extent of their satisfaction. We met with representatives from companies whose solutions the department was considering, and weighed the value of each technology option available to the province.

Ultimately, GeoNet provided recommendations and supported the province in a migration to ESRI products.

NS Department of Fisheries & Aquaculture - Site Location Optimization

The Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture required consultation to determine optimum aquaculture locations for some of their clients. A collection of wave models were generated based on historical Hurricane track information, Environment Canada wind records, as well as bathymetry and land-based elevation data. A series of wave-height maps were generated to display the results.

Stratford - Utilizing GIS technology to Resolve Citizen Concerns and Assist Developers

GeoNet provided ongoing support to the growing Town of Stratford, PEI, in support of developing an enterprise GIS. Stratford utilizes web mapping technology to access their growing GIS database throughout the organization. The town records citizen issues and links them to the map. Most recently, the planning department has taken advantage of this GIS framework by utilizing the existing technology to track development permits.
